BETA ALPHA TAU

77th ANNIVERSARY REUNION SPEECH BY SAUL ISLER

Love thy Brother. That may be difficult in today’s world. But love is a given tonight. Welcome, my loving brothers, and welcome to the wives who’ve put up with you over the years. Welcome to the 77th Anniversary Reunion of Beta Alpha Tau.

I’m Saul Isler.

Tomorrow, September 10th, marks the very day, 77 years ago, that Bob Bachman sitting with Dick Lustig on the front steps of their apartment building on Overlook Road, suggested to Dick, “Why don’t we form a club?” This was the earlier form of “Let’s put on a play!” Dick liked the idea. That was the beginning of B.A.T. You may agree that, among us gathered here, that was a historical day. This is a historical day as well, a day short of 77 years that comprise the unlikely history of Beta Alpha Tau. Unlikely, because it exists today, roughly fifty years after it was officially dead and literally buried.

Many people deserve our thanks for having produced this remarkable evening.
